Who's The Boss?

Cake Bosses’ very own Buddy Valastro headed down to Doltone House to bake a cake!  He then spent time with the ‘Doltone Bosses’ to enjoy some fellow Sicilian hospitality...he loved the Prosciutto & Italian Sausage Pizza in particular, and the signature Signorelli Antipasto!  Buddy’s heritage shares many synergies to Biaggio Signorelli’s story, founder of Doltone House Group.  Buddy loved the statue, a tribute to Immigration In Australia as he really felt at home in our family business.  Buddy’s in town for his Sydney Show last night which was a sell out success!

It’s Royal Doltone at Jones Bay Wharf, Pyrmont!

It was a true royal affair at Doltone House, Jones Bay Wharf  Pyrmont last night where Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary of Denmark attended a black tie gala dinner hosted by the Embassy of Denmark.

Guests including Master of Ceremonies Matt Preston and NSW Premier Barry O'Farrell, enjoyed a decadent menu designed by recently named world's best Chef, Rasmus Kofoed.  An entree of smoked salmon & snow crab followed by a main of pork with juniper berries and crackling accompanied by parsley potatoes, pickled fungi with cider vinegar.  The meal concluded with a selection of cheese and a stunning liquorice and red berry dessert.

This is the second visit to Doltone House Jones Bay Wharf for Crown Prince Frederik having attended a gala dinner in 2009 for the World Masters Games.

Managing Director and owner of Doltone House, Mr Paul Signorelli, had the privilege of personally greeting and escorting the royal couple from their vehicle into the venue.  ‘What an honour to host the Prince and Princess of Denmark at our venue.  We've enjoyed working with the events team to the lead up of this special event' said Mr Signorelli.

The couple continue their 6 day visit following their attendance at a Danish Environmental conference held earlier in the day, Prince Frederik's meeting with the Governor of New South Wales, Marie Bashir  at Government House and Princess Mary's visit to the Westmead Cancer Centre at Westmead Hospital.

Dreamtime buyers and media experience the best of Sydney

Despite the Sydney sun not coming out to play, Dreamtime buyers and media spent the day surfing, shopping, sailing and sculpture during the program’s Sydney Showcase on Thursday.

The Showcase saw the harbour city come alive to profile the best of its incentive experiences. Two morning and two afternoon programs ran concurrently, offering buyers and media options to suit their needs.

“Business Events Sydney (BESydney) worked closely with its strong network of incentive suppliers to showcase the diversity of uniquely “Sydney” experiences that make our city a leading choice for international incentive programs,” says Lyn Lewis-Smith, Acting Chief Executive Officer, BESydney.

“One morning and one afternoon program catered for those who had not been to Sydney before, covering the ‘must-sees’, whilst the other, for those familiar with the city, showcased the depth of activities on offer in Sydney. This is a key message for our destination to communicate to incentive buyers and media – Sydney is not a one trick pony – we’re much more than just the Harbour Bridge and the Opera House and we have the diversity of experiences to prove it.”

The morning program saw over half of the Dreamtime group take to the harbour with the team from EastSail for a sailing regatta. With friendly rivalry waging between the USA and British delegates, seven boats granted guests a spectacular perspective to view Sydney’s icons. The guests raved about the interactive nature of the event. The sailing crews were then transported to Sydney Opera House for an Essentials Tour and a surprise opera performance by Opera Australia. The tour concluded with lunch at the perfectly situated Opera Kitchen.

Shopping was the order of the morning for the remaining Dreamtime buyers and media, who joined the team from Shop in Style Escapes for a personal tour of Sydney’s boutique-lined Oxford Street, Paddington. With in-store presentations, demonstrations and cupcakes along the way, buyers were given an insight into Sydney’s world-class shopping and fashion scene. The tour concluded with lunch at Signorelli Gastronomia, at Doltone House, Darling Island Wharf.

In the afternoon, the group split up again with beach lovers enjoying surfing lessons with the team that also taught Oprah’s audience to surf – Let’s Go Surfing. Guests were also treated to a short coastal walk to see Bondi’s renowned Sculptures By The Sea exhibition and met with the event’s director for an exclusive talk. Other buyers and media enjoyed soaring over Sydney with Sydney HeliTours before a tour of the historic Rocks district.

“From speaking to buyers and media at Thursday’s farewell event, I know they leave Sydney inspired by the possibilities our city can offer their clients. Although the weather was not ideal, the city still turned on its magic and guaranteed all guests left Australia on a high,” added Lyn Lewis-Smith.

Dreamtime is Tourism Australia’s business-to-business trade marketing event for international incentive agents and media and was presented this year in conjunction with partners Business Events Sydney and Qantas. The two-day Sydney program was the only time all 72 buyers were in the same location.

Princess Mary dazzles Sydney diners at Doltone House

Crown Princess Mary and Crown Prince Frederik have spent their last night in Sydney at a black-tie dinner.

The Danish royal couple arrived with little fanfare to a business delegation dinner at Doltone House in Pyrmont on Monday night, forming a greeting line with their country's ambassador Susanne Shine and her husband Tony Shine.

The Australian-born princess looked dazzling in a vintage black three-quarter-length gown, while the prince wore a black suit with a white shirt and patterned tie.

About 400 guests, including celebrity chef Matt Preston, streamed from a balcony and into the ballroom to meet the royal couple.

NSW Premier Barry O'Farrell and his wife Rosemary were also in attendance.

A touch of nostalgia was lent to the evening with music from the Australian String Quartet, which played at the royal couple's wedding reception.

The guests, mainly from the Danish and Australian business communities, snacked on crispy cheese and cress, potato and seaweed crisps and bread and whipped butter with buttermilk.

They then dined on smoked salmon and snow crab and horseradish, cucumber and herbs before a main of pork with juniper berries and crackling, parsley potatoes and pickled fungi, all prepared by Danish chef Rasmus Kofoed.

Dessert consisted of a cheese plate and liquorice with red berries.

Today, the couple are scheduled to fly to Canberra along with their 10-month-old twins, Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine.

The older royal children, Prince Christian, 6, and Princess Isabella, 4, are not expected to accompany them.

They are then expected to travel on to Melbourne, western Victoria and Broken Hill in NSW before enjoying a private family visit.

Crown Princess Mary was born Mary Donaldson in Hobart and the couple married in Copenhagen in 2004.

It is the royal family's first visit to Australia since August 2008, although Princess Mary came for a private visit last year.

Mary plays chef on day two of her visit

Princess Mary played kitchen hand to two world-famous chefs as she helped garnish creations by Matt Moran and Rasmus Kofoed on day two of her Australian visit.

The Australian-born Danish crown princess teamed up with the Aussie chef and Danish master foodie Mr Kofoed, recently named the world's best chef, at Sydney's Sofitel Hotel.

The princess added the finishing touches to a seafood salad and a white chocolate and jelly dessert, taking a break from her meeting and greeting duties.

"I've shaken a lot of hands," she said.

Wearing a chic multi-coloured knee-length dress, Mary sampled the dishes, starting with Mr Moran's salad, and appeared delighted.

Mr Moran paid tribute to the quality of food in her adopted country.

"There's no question that Denmark at the moment is probably the hottest country in the world when it comes to food," he said.

Environmental themes dominated the morning, with Mary's husband Crown Prince Frederick, the heir to the Danish throne, remarking on how Australia and Denmark faced similar challenges when it came clean energy.

Speaking to an environmental conference in Sydney's CBD, Frederick said Australia could benefit from the clean energy technologies developed in his home country.

"Australia is a very special country to the crown princess and I," he said at the Hotel Sofitel Wentworth.

"Although our two countries could not be geographically further apart we are facing similar challenges."

He told the room full of Australian and Danish business leaders that Denmark's State of Green initiative had promoted trade in clean energy, food and technology.

"Both our countries are looking to reduce our dependency on oil and gas and coal. At the time we are not willing to compromise our economic prosperity in order to do so," the prince said.

"My country has shown that it is possible to maintain economic growth and job creation (and) at the same time move towards a more climate friendly and green economy."

Frederick said energy technology was Denmark's fastest growing sector and constituted 10 per cent of exports.

NSW Premier Barry O'Farrell said at the conference he hoped the business event would strengthen business and trade relations between the two countries.

Mr O'Farrell has also revealed the names of the books he gave to the royal 10-month-old twins, Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine.

They are The Bushwalk by Sandra Kendall, How Frogmouth Found Her Home by Ezekiel Kwaymullina, Baby Wombat's Week by Jackie French and Are We There Yet? A Journey Around Australia by Alison Lester.

On Monday afternoon Frederik will meet the Governor of NSW, Marie Bashir, while Mary will visit the Westmead Cancer Centre at Westmead Hospital.

The couple will reunite at night to attend a black-tie business dinner at Doltone House in Pyrmont.

"Before the function centre maestro Paul Signorelli opened his eponymous pizzeria, trattoria and gourmet food store in 2010, the options for a business lunch in Pyrmont were few and far between. Now this slick, all-black cave on the ground floor of the Accenture building is busy serving the working lunch crowd on weekdays and local apartment dwellers on weekends. Order the signature antipasto platter, or opt for equally simple primi such as warm goat's cheese studded with truffles and encased in flaky pastry, or trout carpacccio marinated in beetroot juices, with a scattering of baby capers and onion shavings. A margherita pizza from the wood-fired oven flies the Italian colours with pride, although house-made gnocchi with bug meat and asparagus in a creamy tomato sauce was sadly gritty. There's even a Nutella pizza on the dessert menu for the adventurous, but cannoli filled with orange chocolate and served in a puddle of semolina custard is enough for the rest of us."

Princess Mary to be at Doltone House

The festive season will be all about sun, surf and fancy functions for Princess Mary, who will be bringing her brood back home to Australia in late November. But while Women's Day was the first to report that the mum-of-four will be coming home at the end of the year, we can now reveal she and Prince Frederik are also set to become fixtures on the Aussie parties scene, attending posh parties to promote one of the world's hottest new food trends, Scandinavian cuisine.

The couple will reportedly be guests of honour at two "Bright Green Denmark" gala dinners, held to publicise their country's culinary exports, at Sydney's Doltone House and Melbourne Peninsula.
