A fairytale come true for Divya and Gurjap

A story of a long distance relationship and a fairytale come true for Divya and Gurjap.

Divya and Gurjap celebrated their union with a total of 11 functions spread over 4 months in Australian and India. Thousands of guests gathered at various venues across the two continents, starting with a pre-wedding function at Doltone House Darling Island.

Divya and Gurjap fell in love with the harbour side venue the moment they saw it. Divya was attracted to the spaciousness of the venue with mirrored pillars and floor to ceiling glass windows overlooking Sydney harbour. Offering thanks to God and seeking blessings for the upcoming festivities, Divya and Gurjap said, “once the venue was decorated and hymns were going on, and with the scenery around, it truly felt like we were in heaven.”

The unique pre-wedding function saw the entire floor space covered in white velvet and decorated with traditional Indian décor. Their menu included over 50 international dishes and like cooking demonstrations as well as a buffet lunch. Divya said she will never forget the moment she recited the hymn ‘Mehervaan Sahib Mehervaan’ to her 800 guests, which signifies being grateful to God for blessing her with the perfect life partner.

Her advice for couples planning a wedding celebration, “have fun with it. It’s your once in a lifetime opportunity! Make it about what is special to you both and your family. Dare to be different and break convention just to make it memorable for yourself and others. Relish and enjoy arranging even the small details to ensure it’s exactly like your dream wedding”.
